The importance of summer skin care

Taking good care of our skin is extremely important in all seasons of the year, but in summer it is perhaps even more important due to the additional harmful effects on our skin. Strong sun exposure and chlorinated, salt water take their toll on sensitive skin, so we need to pay even more attention to protection and regeneration.

First and foremost, protect our skin from the harmful rays of the sun, which, in addition to premature skin aging, can cause pigment spots and even skin cancer. From spring to early autumn, make sure your day cream has SPF 15 sunscreen, but SPF 30 or SPF 50 is recommended when going to the beach. Sunscreen should be applied 15-20 minutes before sunbathing to achieve complete protection and reapplied every two hours or after swimming. If the problem does happen and you get sunburned, use cooling creams with high antioxidant content that help the skin in the regeneration process.

+1 Tip:

When applying sunscreen, many people forget about the sensitive skin of the lips, even though sunburn can easily occur here. It’s a good idea to use a lip care with SPF 15 or more when going out in the sun.

Once you’ve achieved the desired tan, you can highlight it by exfoliating your skin regularly and avoid spotted tanning. Use scrubs 1-2 times a week, but not immediately before or after sunbathing. Exfoliate your face regularly, pores are more visible in hot, humid weather, so +1 exfoliation per week may be necessary.

To refresh your skin and keep your face hydrated throughout the day, always carry a moisturizing face spray with you. This is not only useful for hydration, but we will also appreciate its pleasant cooling effect during the heat wave! However, make sure to choose alcohol- and fragrance-free products, thermal water sprays are the best!

+1 Tip:

If you put the spray in the fridge for a few hours before leaving, it will cool even more!

Avoid wearing heavy makeup in hot weather, because together with sweat they can clog pores, which can lead to acne. In summer, replace your foundation with a light BB cream or tinted moisturizer – often you don’t need as much coverage as you might think – usually a mineral powder with sunscreen is enough. If you use lipstick or lip gloss, make sure they also include sunscreen – this will help protect your lips from the harmful effects of UV rays. Remember that excessive sun exposure can not only lead to skin damage but also increase the risk of skin cancer.
