Care for sensitive skin
Skin sensitivity can be a symptom of any skin type (normal, seborrheic, fat deficient, dehydrated, rosacea, combined). Sensitive skin reacts more strongly to external and internal changes, it immediately becomes red in the cold, and it can get sunburned and peel even in weak sunlight. Certain chemical ingredients and even some plants can cause an allergic reaction and red spots may appear on the skin.
What to avoid at all costs:
Fragrances – fragrances in cosmetics (whether natural or artificial) are potential skin irritants. Luckily, there are now fragrance-free versions of all products, so we can eliminate fragrances from every step of your skincare routine.
Alcohols – in higher concentrations, alcohols irritate, dry the skin and break its natural barrier, which is not completely intact in case of sensitive skin.
Hyperemia enhancers – cosmetics containing stimulant herbs should also be avoided for sensitive skin – lavender, mint, nettle, sage, thyme, rosemary – as these have an irritating effect on skin that is already very prone to inflammation or already inflamed.
What does a skincare routine look like for sensitive skin?
Every skincare routine starts with cleansing your skin. In the case of sensitivity, this process is perhaps even more important, since the primary goal is to remove dirt and irritants from the skin.
Be careful to avoid the irritating ingredients mentioned above. Don’t be afraid to try several washes, because you won’t always find the best product for you the first time. When toning, make sure to choose a non-alcoholic tonic enriched with moisturizing and soothing ingredients (e.g. aloe vera). Like cleansers and toners, different moisturizing lotions don’t work the same way on everyone’s sensitive skin. You may need to try several products on a small area of your skin to see which one works best for you without causing irritation.
We moisturize the skin properly (aloe vera, Panthenol, Hyaluron), help strengthen its natural defenses (vitamin A, vitamin B7, ceramide, panthenol, lecithin) and replace the oily layer on its surface (jojoba oil, shorea butter).
Finally, we must not forget about sun protection, sensitive skin burns especially quickly in the sun, so it is worth using a face cream containing sunscreen not only in summer, but every day of the year.
